Dallas Wedding Calligraphy – Italian themed

January 9, 2018

Dallas Wedding Calligraphy – Italian themed

I love working with the team at Emily Clarke events. Their table settings are top notch. They always make my work look so good…especially for this Italian themed Dallas Wedding Calligraphy.

These little tags tied around an olive branch atop the napkin and menu are just so welcoming! This is a seat that I would want to sit in and laugh and talk with my table mates all night! We used my Olivia script on these sweet place cards. The ink was a custom mixed green. The olive branches on the napkins were fresh picked.  Fresh greenery adds a touch of warmth and intimacy on any table. The florist is really important in bringing life to a table setting.  When floral and calligraphy are pulled together, magic happens!

And this great set up is where the escort cards display went for the rehearsal dinner. The little tags were pinned into the fresh produce. I loved the red color and a bit more casual script on these! We used my Mitty hand.  They were tiny at only 1 inch tall.

This display is so lovely.  I think it would be great for any intimate rehearsal dinner or party.  It looks so effortless and simple, but I’m sure there is more work than it looks like.  Emily and her team are brilliant at styling these escort card displays.  I love this idea for a co-op produce exchange too.  How fun to make that into a party to celebrate the bounty for the season.

Dallas Wedding Calligraphy – welcome mirror

December 4, 2017

I had the privilege of working with the team at Bella Flora recently. This pretty mirror was designed to welcome the couples guests and reflect the invitation design.

I painted the floral design on the mirror in a blush pink and light blue. The welcome mirror message was completed using my Olivia script in a white chalk marker.

You can see the whole mirror here with a little cameo by the studio pup and my tree. It is so difficult taking pics of these mirrors!

Dallas Wedding – Dapper Dapper Diplomat

October 5, 2017

Dallas Wedding

It was such a delight to work with planner- Julian Leaver – The Dapper Diplomat. The designer was Emily Clarke Events with stationer – The Detail Department on this fun Dallas wedding.

The wedding invitations were so lovely in a palette of light blue, green, white and gold.

I addressed the wedding envelopes in grass green. The classic Olivia script was used. Isn’t the watercolor on the invitation gorgeous?! The green is a nice touch.

The day of items were super special because the bride is an equestrian. The winners ribbons idea created the seating display.

I used the Olivia script and white ink to write the guest names. They went directly on the ribbons and the number went in the center circle. It all turned out so lovely!

And just a little behind the scenes for you – ink and ribbon isn’t always a good mix so we have to “prepare the surface” in calligraphy speak. So a little insiders secret is to lightly coat with hairspray to make it a bit less slick & accept the ink without bleeding!

Envelope Addressing-Dallas calligraphy

March 4, 2016

I admit it: I love envelope addressing. This is a gorgeous one in my Olivia hand. The matching navy blue calligraphy is really a show stopper also!

wedding calligraphy envelope addressing

Envelope addressing really makes an impact on your guests with hand calligraphy.  It is the first impression to introduce them to your celebration.  My clients often get photos with compliments of the envelope calligraphy after mailing.  I am told many times that it helps push brides into the joyous stage of getting married after planning for such a long time.

Envelope addressing can also really reflect the style of the wedding through the calligraphy.  The envelope can be very traditional black ink on a white or ivory envelope with a simple copperplate calligraphy.  Or we can bring it a bit more modern with matching ink colors (like this navy blue), gold or silver.  Then we could use a dark envelope with white ink calligraphy.  Sometimes we use flourishing or even put the whole address on a slant for something different.
