Pennsylvania Wedding Calligrapher

October 16, 2015

As a Pennsylvania wedding calligrapher, my brides always have the best taste in stationery.  They are classic brides.  Brides who choose calligraphy and monograms.  This bride was no exception.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with an amazing bride out of Pennsylvania.  She opted for an amazing calligraphy wedding invitation, menu, program and more (photos to come!).  I wanted to share her gorgeous stationery suite of thank you note cards.  This bride really knows the importance of the handwritten note and ordered 2 versions of her monogrammed notes!  The large and small size fit every need.

And just for fun, a little behind the scenes. This is my assembly desk getting her other day of wedding stationery counted and packaged!

New Handwriting Class – Dallas Calligrapher

January 15, 2015

Hello!  I am so pleased to finally announce that I am going to be offering handwriting classes.  This has been on my heart for a long time – the revival of the hand written note.  So many times I hear “please excuse my terrible handwriting” or “I have terrible handwriting”.  I understand, in today’s world of computer and tablet and mobile devices; there is not a need to pick up a pen and write anything anymore.  (Who still even writes a check with on-line bill pay and plastic in their pockets?)  If you don’t use a skill, you lose it.

So, about a year in the making – I have decided to share my love of writing.  With so many calligraphy classes being offered, I wanted to offer something accessible to everyone… using everyday supplies.  Just a ball point pen and paper.  To empower people to be proud of their handwriting, not ashamed.  To write love notes to be kept and treasured.  To send thank you notes that people can read.  It takes time and thought to sit down and write something.  Make it have meaning.  Make it be something tangible and treasured.

Let’s start using our hands to create friends.  Let’s share love through the written word.  Take pride in Penmanship.

Dallas Calligraphy Classes

My first class will be to celebrate Handwriting Day.  Held at the wonderful creative studios of Southern Fried Paper.

Please join us for the start of something wonderful.  Also, there will be snacks and mimosas so you will be sure to improve over the course of 2 hours 🙂  All supplies will be included – Just bring yourself and a good attitude.

You can register in my shop here.  Seats are limited.  If there is a great response, I will offer more classes!

xoxo,

Nicole

Wedding Calligrapher – Setting up your guest list

February 17, 2014

Congratulations on your engagement!  It is so much fun planning the flowers and picking out the dress.  The worst part is putting together a guest list – lots of spelling checks and address checks and if you are not a whiz at excel it can be a bit overwhelming… since you have never put together a guest list like this before.  Today I wanted to chat about a couple of useful tricks to make you organized and your calligrapher happy.

wedding guest list

In the image below you can see how I like my guest lists set up for the basic list and for the advanced list to sort by any category (for you data driven couples).  The most important item is that there is a column for each line: the name, address, city/state/zip.

Advanced List

Are you having trouble with the visual aspect of reading across?  Here is a nice hint – to return for a new line within an excel cell – click “Alt + Enter”.  Now you don’t have to space across until it looks like a new line.

This is never recommended though because the calligrapher will mail merge your list into a word document that will be easier for her to read.

Final note – Remember to send your list to be checked by multiple people before sending it to your calligrapher.  We know you have spent months cultivating your list and changing spelling and addresses until it is perfect, it is easy to overlook something you have been looking at for so long.  Don’t be afraid to ask a second (or fifth) set of eyes to double check the list and probably save you some money!

Still wanting more? – you can download my guest list templates from the website here!

Have more questions – send them to me and they will be answered in a future post.

Dallas Wedding Calligrapher – New Website

October 18, 2013

Well, most of you are probably familiar with the new look as of May, but I am thrilled to introduce you to my new and updated website.  She is clean and easy to use and bright and shiny!

To show off a few of the newest features – my favorite page is the new styles page!  First of all, you now have an option to save a style to compare to other styles right next to each other.  This is awesome!

You can also click on the style itself to open up to a photo of it on an envelope.  Also, really cool so now you can see more of what the lettering looks like in a group for addressing.

The next page with a total make over was the pricing page.  All the rates are the same, just with more photos so you can see what centering is and place cards verses escort cards.  There is a more extensive pricing list as well for the design pieces now highlighting the invitation components and bride and groom name in addition to menu, program and invitation design.

The shop had a major overhaul also with a easier to use interface, faster checkout and more photos and products! The bottom of this page also has a few great resources: the guest list templates as well as a new FAQ’s sheet to help answer some of the most common questions burning your brain at 2 am.

Finally, the contact page has an extensive questionnaire to make the custom ordering/quote process so much easier by asking all the questions I need answered.  The goal was easier and faster for my clients and I think we accomplished that 🙂

Oh and did you notice the new colors – GOLD!  Love the updated look and clean lines of everything.  This is one to hang around awhile 🙂

Many thanks to the photographers who generously allowed me to use their work (see credits on site) as well as Alison with One and Only for designing this beautiful website. (USE her – Alison describes her self as a “web designer for people who make things” – she is perfect for understanding the small business of selling).
