Dallas Calligrapher – Allison and Wes at The Adolphus

January 25, 2011

I loved working with Allison and Wes for their wedding at the Adolphus with As You Wish… Wedding Calligrapher

Allison had very traditional tendencies toward calligraphy so we kept it nice and clean with black ink on white paper in the Rook alphabet.  My personal favorite part was the reply card with an image of their cocker spaniel (being a cocker spaniel owner myself – we were fast friends).Wedding Calligrapher

The Reception had all the calligraphy items – menu place cards, escort cards and table signs.  A little bit inspired by Marie Antoinette – this was such a lovely wedding.  Congratulations!Wedding CalligrapherWedding Calligrapher

The Left-Handed Calligrapher Rivals Any Righty

Speaking as a lefty, who says we can’t do things just as well as any righty? Well, Nicole Black, The Left-Handed Calligrapher, can prove any naysayer wrong. Black is in the business of writing and her left-hand is serving her perfectly well. So well, in fact, that her work has been featured several times in D Weddings (here, here and here) as well as several other publications. And now, she has a brand new website where you can see all of her style options (of which she has many), pricing and examples of her work. It’s easy as pie to place your entire order on the site and know exactly how much its going to cost you and what it will look like. Calligraphy can add an air of elegance to your invitations, table cards, place cards or whatever you can think of. Black can even create a lovely custom map to guide guests from one venue to another.

Also a big thanks to Jordan Payne for a post as well!  We cannot wait to see her new website (coming soon!).

Dallas Calligrapher – Southern Weddings Magazine

January 13, 2011

Hi All!  A few months back Southern Weddings Magazine announced they were going to have a mega photo contest for their readers.  After picking up the magazine reading and re-examining every picture I determined that there was no other wedding magazine I ever needed to purchase.  (I try to keep all the inspiration found very digital to keep my studio space footprint low).

Anyways – I set up my camera, remote release, wrote a little chalk board sign & grabbed my magazine for a little photo shoot.  Yes, I took this picture of my self and let me tell you – self portraits are difficult if you are trying to get more than just your face in there!  So this was the best of approximately 100 photos taken with my toe pressing the photo release button 🙂

What’s up for grabs?  As a finalist in the V3 Mega Photo Contest I have the opportunity to choose from a $50 ITunes gift card, an ad on the blog, or a Mini Instax camera.

Of course I am aiming for an ad on the blog (dreaming of a feature with them in V4 too – any takers?).  So please vote!  I’m #10 🙂 Dallas Calligrapher

Dallas Calligrapher – Catherine & Jeff – New Years Eve Wedding

January 6, 2011

For NYE, I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of one of my brides + good friends wedding.  It was such a fun time to spend the holiday celebrating a new marriage.

For the invitations, I did the invitation components in calligraphy + envelope addressing.  The couple printed the invitations on the home printer & stationery set picked up at a big box craft store.  (This is a great way to get the calligraphy you want & save a little money on printing/paper costs).  It all turned out really lovely.

I used black ink & the Zanner font.dallas calligrapher invitations
