Thus, you need calligraphy

March 31, 2008

I was on Rebecca Thuss this morning surfing and decided to share a bit of her creativity. In her “favors paper craft” heading there are so many examples of how to use calligraphy in weddings and everyday functions.

One of my favorites is the calligraphic wrapping paper. It adds such a nice personal touch to the packaging, I find absolutely charming.

Also, loving the wonderful chocolates favor boxes that say “true love lasts forever” beneath the chocolates. Delightful for weddings or a special someone.

Finally, who cannot immediately fall head over hills for the monogrammed parasol. Beautiful and the perfect unexpected unifying splash in the right setting.

Labels for Envelopes

March 28, 2008

Usually I write directly onto the envelope for a client when they are mailing an invitation. In this particular case the client had semi-transparent envelopes and wanted me to use a mailing label.

This is written small in the copperplate script with black ink. I had to get very tiny with the 6 line addresses!

Fun Food

March 20, 2008

Sunday I also had the pleasure of meeting Geni from Creative Cuisine. Okay, I met her while I was chowing down on a goat cheese cake and champagne. The food was delicious and beautiful. Hand passed always makes a party more fun and I checked out their menus on-line… definitely created with the customer in mind. Not too frilly that you do not want to eat, but classy enough to know that you cannot make it at home. Awesome.

Very Entertaining

March 20, 2008

I met Andy from Lite Dallas on Sunday and was so enchanted by his work. They do lighting (oh so important to make me glow) and entertainment. One of the brides said that she went to a wedding he did and it was one of the best she had ever been to because everyone was on the floor dancing.
For lighting (you should check out their website, really the pictures are outstanding), they encompass every aspect to help set the tone of the evening. This includes tabletops, monogram spotlights, twinkle lights, under lighting, over lighting in colors and intensities that I have never seen… I really am hoping to get invited to one of his parties. 🙂

As for the entertainment… they DJ from their apple computers (tres chic) and rock out with out the chicken dance or other irritating songs that shouldn’t be associated with parties. Plus I hear they create custom introductions for bride/groom and wedding party based on a questionnaire.

I was also checking out the pictures from their audio/visual section and they have some really really cool stuff… some day it would be fun to play with their equipment.

Book early, I am sure they book up quickly – 972.458.7569 info@litedallas.com

Stylish in South Carolina

March 18, 2008

Yesterday I finished up a set of envelopes for a lovely bride who is marrying in South Carolina.
Her invitations were beautiful with golden letterpressed work. We did the Rook lettering in black on the cotton envelopes.
