This week has been a tough one.  We mourned the losses caused from the bombing of the Boston Marathon.  Then we mourned the losses and damage caused from the chemical explosion in the (beloved) town of West, Texas.  This little phrase has played over in my mind through the week.  To hope and have courage.

I also wanted to show my other lovely design for Bella Figura this year – Aquinnah.

This one is a combination of Mitty and capitals.  The feeling is so different from the last with printing in navy and powder blue.  It is perfect for a destination wedding – whether it is a fancy chateau outside of Paris or a simply lovely beach front wedding.  It really is a universal design and has a feeling of being written by hand – like a love letter to your guests.

Wedding season is in full swing!  And I have 2 new invitation designs with the lovely & wonderful Bella Figura.

The first is…. awesome.  I used the mitty font in classic black and jazzed it up by placing all the lettering on an angle and adding touches of copper (yes, real copper!) for an accent.  Let me tell you – in person this suite (Gracieux) really shines.

I’m a big fan of hand delivered invitations.  This summer I worked with Fluent Dallas addressing some very special invitations to their concierge services.  Each one contained a personal access code – fancy.

We kept the lettering classic in black ink and modern with the Kegan style.

Today I am loving the gold and black for a lovely anniversary party.  The square invitation (and monogrammed belly band) in black and gold works perfectly with the gold ink on black envelope.

I love being a Bella Figura calligrapher.  They are wonderful to work with, their bamboo papers are heaven to write on and the designs have such a great range of aesthetics.  Also, because of them – I get to work with the coolest clients.

This summer, I was asked to address these envelopes for an Austin, Texas bride and groom.  The patterns and colors are wonderful and made me want to run away to the beach.

Last summer a little end of summer bash was thrown and I had the joy of addressing the envelopes.  Since this was not a wedding, and the envelopes were black, we decided to do something a bit more casual while still pretty.  I did a play on the old teaching Palmer style and was quite happy with the look.

Meredith and Julian married at the Greenbrier in West Virginia and it was a beautiful wedding!  You can see photos from the entire weekend on their Style Me Pretty feature. I had the pleasure of working on the rehearsal dinner calligraphy.  We did table numbers, seating cards, food signs and directional signs – all in glittering gold on deep black paper.  Everything turned out beautiful.  All photos are provided by the talented Christian Oth Studio.

I LOVE seeing the bride & groom looking for their seating card at the event!  So wonderful.
