Hi Guys!  Hope spring is treating everyone well.  I wanted to share this great giveaway by Bella Figura!

If you loved our Pinterest contest last month, wait til you see what we’ve got in store for March! We want to see what good means to you: is it volunteering at an animal shelter? Planting trees? Donating to your local food pantry? Building homes for the less fortunate? Whatever it is, we want you to tell us about it and show us how you’re making a difference — and we’ll give you 25 free invitation sets* just for doing your good deed! It gets better: for the grand prize, we’ll give an entire set of free invitations to the person who submits the ultimate good deed. No purchase is necessary to participate, and the contest is open to everybody worldwide!

*25 free invitation sets when you order 50 or more.

Deadline: Your good deed must be done during the month of March 2012. Good deed submissions should be made by March 31 at midnight.

Prizes: Everyone who follows the above guidelines and enters their good deed will receive a coupon and a unique code for 25 free invitation sets with the purchase of 50 or more. This promotional offer is valid through July 31, 2012. “Invitation sets” includes the invitation, reply card + envelope or reply postcard, invitation envelopes, and any coordinating embellishments (this includes envelope liners, edge painting, etc.). The grand prize consists of 100 1-ply, 1-color invitations, reply cards, and envelopes, and must be redeemed by October 31, 2012. The grand prize winner will be announced on April 16, 2012.

Criteria: You determine the definition of “do good.” For the free 25 invitation sets, anything you consider good will work. For the grand prize, we’re looking for actions that bring us hope; that demonstrate the power of an individual to do good; and that show us how the world can be a caring and beautiful place. In either case, please be sure to get a photo or video of yourself in action.

Judging: The team at Bella Figura will choose the top 5 do-gooders and will post them to a finalists board on Pinterest by Wednesday, April 4. Everyone is encouraged to read about the five finalists on the Bella Figura blog from April 4 through April 11, and should “like” their favorite on Pinterest in order to cast a vote. The do-gooder with the most likes on Thursday, April 12 will win the set of 100 free invitations. You must have a Pinterest account in order to “like” one of the finalists, so if you need an invitation, email dogood@bellafigura.com and we’ll send you an invite right away.

Enjoy being good during March friends! – Nicole

Serving trays…

Posted in Eco-Conscious, party politely on October 12th, 2009 by nicole
With a modern touch.
Back in the summer I saw this wonderful post by Miss Joey on Weddingbee. Now that the chilly air has started to settle in and people are planning parties for the holiday season – her ideas are totally transferable to non-wedding related parties.

She found several silver serving trays at estate sales and goodwill on the cheap and spray painted them yellow and grey to use on the breakfast buffet. placed a fun and modern fabric in the bottom and viola! a new re-purposed fabulous piece of serve ware.
This would be perfect for a spooky Halloween party or a lovely ladies lunch, or even for a New Years Eve cocktail party.

September already?

Posted in Eco-Conscious, Food Fun, party politely on September 1st, 2009 by nicole
Wow – the summer flew by with lots of ink and paper. September looks to be just as busy, but I promise to get some pictures posted – unfortunately my video card failed this week and I have not been able to see anything but green fuzz and headaches on the main computer. So pictures will have to wait until next week when my new video card is in.
Until then – I have a huge stockpile of beautiful paper and printing inspiration.

First up is Betsy Grace embroidery. I am in the process of ordering some monogrammed napkins (we go through a ton of linens since we banished paper products in the kitchen).
Gorgeous and I love the manners napkins a pictured below – perfect hostess or mommy gift.
$30 for a set of six, $24 for a matching table runner.

Sky Lanterns

I was one of those brides – the sparkler exit.
These are way cooler and just as time sensitive to give that rush of excitement upon your exit. Plus they are biodegradable and apparently the $2.00 ones are easy enough for one person to light. Thanks for the info about this one Strictly Weddings Blog!

Sun is power

Love this bag – especially after my precious iphone was caught in a data loop last week during a power outage from the terrible thunderstorms and died. Brilliant for staying connected while taking that beach holiday :-)
It plugs in using your car adapter, has a water resistant bottom and is made of natural canvas.

Oh and the solar panel is removable for cleaning or use elsewhere. I would be tempted to carry this to more than just the beach.

Available at Reware for $250.00

Around the net

Posted in Eco-Conscious, inspirational on April 2nd, 2009 by nicole

Well, I have been completely uninspired… After spending the last hours scouring the net for springtime items – this is what I have come up with. Enjoy.

Spring has arrived and flowers are starting to bloom (between the torrential rains and hurricane level winds). I love this daisy ball for wonderfully happy decor. DYI on Brides.

I am also digging pink and green at the moment and this pillow from chaiwat’s etsy shop is rocking my face. Perfect for playing uno on the patio with a tall glass of iced tea. ($39.55)

We still have carpet in all the common rooms and don’t know if the change to bamboo will happen… so the previous owner loved keeping his plants (yay, great… it left dirt stains on my carpets in all of the corners of the house that will not come out!), my husband said no to indoor plants… maybe this would solve the problem of potential dirty floors (and my brown thumb inherited from my mother!) As seen on outblush and delight, the elegant eva solo house plant is a beautiful pot that has a water filled glass bottom to keep enough water for the week. Elegant – beautiful – classic.

Green Builders

Posted in Eco-Conscious on March 6th, 2009 by nicole

My lovely sister just returned from Powershift, a conference for Green Builders and it inspired me to feature this wonderful Florida home, Acqua Liana by Frank McKinney, that I have been following and also just recently saw on Uncrate.
The home is installed with solar panels to operate the home on certain days, a rainwater collection system that collects enough water to fill a swimming pool every 14 days used to irrigate the 1.6 acres and fill the water garden, natural lighting to reduce the use of fixtures by 70% and enough water to lower the temperature of the property by 2-3 degrees – thus reducing the use of an extremely efficient air conditioning unit. Plus, all the wood used was from renewable or reclaimed wood to make this home “triple” LEED certified. This 3 story mansion has a glass water floor, waterfalls, subterranean garage, an aquarium bar, 11 bathrooms, 7 bedrooms, 2 glass elevators, golf course grass driveway, bio-feedback home tech automation, movie theater, extensive natural vegetation, glass wine cellar and more for only $29 million.

While it is certainly over the top for the every day joe – definitely and inspiration that we can take some of the concepts and apply to new building and renovations.

Smocked up

Posted in Eco-Conscious, Pretty Paper on March 2nd, 2009 by nicole

Word on the street these days is all about Smock Paper. With every reason – their work is gorgeous and sustainable. They use a custom bamboo paper for their letterpress, vegetable oil based inks and gift wrap made from 100% post consumer waste. Using wonderful colors and designs with a fabulous attention to detail, we should all be so inventive.
