Derby Inspired Calligraphy on Style Me Pretty

May 16, 2011

Today a derby inspired photo-shoot with some fabulous vendors was featured on Style Me Pretty Texas! Check out their full post here.

Working with a great team really helps the color and fun of this inspiration translate into real life.  Bows and Arrows designed the lovely floral, Greg Bloomberg Photography captured the wonderful photos.  Sugar Bee Sweets mastered the lovely cake table and James with Pure Vida Salon rocked the hair and makeup on our models.

Jason from Missing Q Press is a creative genius and made these cute paper ribbons that I added my calligraphy to.  I am also loving the stunning menu’s and darling gold horses that topped the eclectic table settings.

Everything really came together at the Rocking M Stables in Dallas where our horse was hamming it up for the camera. *no animals were harmed during the execution of this shoot.

While the Kentucky derby was a week ago, we think you could pull off a great Belmont party instead (or translate to a chic baby shower)!

The Left-Handed Calligrapher Rivals Any Righty

Speaking as a lefty, who says we can’t do things just as well as any righty? Well, Nicole Black, The Left-Handed Calligrapher, can prove any naysayer wrong. Black is in the business of writing and her left-hand is serving her perfectly well. So well, in fact, that her work has been featured several times in D Weddings (here, here and here) as well as several other publications. And now, she has a brand new website where you can see all of her style options (of which she has many), pricing and examples of her work. It’s easy as pie to place your entire order on the site and know exactly how much its going to cost you and what it will look like. Calligraphy can add an air of elegance to your invitations, table cards, place cards or whatever you can think of. Black can even create a lovely custom map to guide guests from one venue to another.

Also a big thanks to Jordan Payne for a post as well!  We cannot wait to see her new website (coming soon!).

Dallas Calligrapher Oh So Beautiful Paper Feature

October 28, 2010

Last week I had a wonderful feature in Oh So Beautiful Paper.  If you have not visited the site yet – beware.  It’s easy to get lost in all of the wonderful invitations and creativity from some fabulous designers.

Here is a recap from Nole!

This bride was wonderful to work with and super great about her paper products – she wanted everything!  I calligraphed the addresses for her wedding invitation envelopes (the invitations are the Cartoccio design from Bella Figura).bella figura calligrapher

When it came time for the ceremony and reception stationery, I created a tall ceremony program, a menu with calligraphy seating assignments, and tented escort cards in the same calligraphy.  All letterpress printed on Crane 110lb 100% cotton Lettra paper in chic and sophisticated black and white.Wedding CalligrapherWedding Calligrapher

Nicole also calligraphed the guest book, which was actually a coffee table art book from the wedding venue, the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas.  Finally, Nicole created custom calligraphy thank you notes with the bride and groom’s married names and new address.Oh So Beautiful Paper Calligrapher

So pretty Nicole!  If you’re looking for more pretty calligraphy eye candy, Nicole also has a gorgeous new website full of her beautiful calligraphy styles and portfolio – check it out right here!

Thanks for the wonderful post Nole – love your site and it’s always an honor to have a feature!
