Dallas Calligraphy – July 4th at Arlington Hall

Posted in Wonderous Weddings, calligraphy, published, vendor love on July 17th, 2012 by nicole

A few years back I got to work on some pretty patriotic invitations for a fourth of July wedding.  Since we just passed the holiday and their 2 year anniversary, I thought I would share some images.

I really was pleased with the way the addressing turned out with the very bold ornament printed on the envelope.  It did need to be centered for the pretty factor.  We matched the font (which I now offer as a regular – look for it soon on the website) and used a nice blue ink color.  I love the little belly band they used with this invitation, it works really well.

Italy Calligrapher – Courtney + Neal in Ravello, Italy

Posted in Wonderous Weddings, calligraphy, inspirational, vendor love on June 26th, 2012 by nicole

These two are about to celebrate their 2 year anniversary and I think that I can finally share the photos of their stationery!  I worked with Julian Leaver (who is now with Bella Flora) and the lovely Hollye Edwards of Carta Creations.  They had a beautiful wedding in Ravello, Italy filled with photographers Karlisch + Wrubel and DJ Lucy Wruble mixing the tunes.  It sounded like an incredible event.

These are the great save the dates.  We used the Jane font – the envelopes were pretty tiny so it worked out well.  I love the envelopements pattern liner and folder.

The invitations had the same colors palette.  I adore the cute monogram tag and thick satin wrap that holds the suite together.

A few iphone pics from Julian.  The estate tables under the incredible arching ceiling is simply stunning.

The escort cards – hanging by more pretty satin ribbon… and a close up of the table setting – you can see place cards and personalized menus adorned with my calligraphy.

Finally – Congratulations to the couple and happy anniversary!

California Calligrapher – Published: Traditional Home Entertaining – Wedding China Redo

California Calligraphy

Wow – back in the June 2011 issue of Traditional Home Magazine I had a few great shots of my calligraphy partnered with the lovely paper stylings of Orange Spot Pink Nose.  (pages 64 and 66 if you have the print copy!)

Los Angeles Calligrapher

L.A. based event planner Rachel Hollis put together a refresh of the white china chosen years ago with new bold service plates and linens.  This inspired a lovely rich and warm new look for the dining table.  You can see my hand lettered menu and place cards that hang on the back of each chair rather than at the head of the place setting. I love the look and functionality of this – frees up valuable space on the table for all the plates, glasses and silverware! You can also see a little hand lettered tag for a sweet take home treat – perfect end to a evening with friends.

On a side note – you can also see my menus used by Rachel for a TV segment on Fox 5 San Diego talking about Valentine’s Day on a Budget :-)

California Calligrapher – Sonoma Wedding Invitation with Paisley Quill

Posted in Pretty Paper, Wonderous Weddings, calligraphy, vendor love on May 10th, 2012 by nicole

I love working with Molly over at Paisley Quill.  She is so creative and loves to use color.  This envelope calligraphy is the perfect example of really applying your wedding or event colors and doing something that pops in the mail.  We used a yellow ink on the grey envelopes in the Rook lettering.  I. Love. Them!

We also did a calligraphy address stamp for the response card and Molly used a yellow ink with yellow embossing powder to provide a nice shimmer.  The whole suite is amazing.  Don’t you just love the cork paper that is a subtle tie to the winery location.  Gorgeous & great job Molly!

Los Angeles Calligrapher – Film & Lace Wedding Ideas on Ruffled Blog

Posted in Pretty Paper, Uncategorized, Wonderous Weddings, calligraphy, images, inspirational, published, vendor love on April 20th, 2012 by nicole

It is so nice to work with a great group of vendors on a photo shoot & see such lovely photos & write up on the blogs!  This week a Lace & Film Wedding Ideas photoshoot was featured on Ruffled blog and it is so lovely.  I love how it is a little vintage modern and not rustic!  The blacks and whites used in the stationery really popped and coordinated well with the vintage cameras, film canisters and reels.  It was perfect for this Los Angeles photo shoot.  Here are a couple of images – but check out the blog for the inspiration shoot and the diy posts on the escort & place cards, photo table runner and hanging light bulb chandelier.

Washington DC Calligrapher – Cate & Tim at St. Regis in DC, featured on Style Me Pretty

Posted in Pretty Paper, Wonderous Weddings, calligraphy, images, vendor love on April 12th, 2012 by nicole

I was so thrilled to see Cate & Tim’s wedding on Style Me Pretty (almost 2 weeks ago!) and just had to share the images with you.  They were married at the glamorous St. Regis in Washington DC last October and it was quite an event.  Haute Papier did such a great job on the stationery and asked me to do a little calligraphy in my Mitty style for this black & white + cookies & wine wedding.

LOVE the starburst dots and type treatment on the menus.  I also did the cookie signs on black paper with white lettering… which always makes a bold statement.  Check out more at the Style Me Pretty post and be sure to watch the great film by Inkspot Crow Films.

Posted in Eco-Conscious, Happening Events, Pretty Paper, Spectacular Sales, Surprises, calligraphy, charity, party politely on March 13th, 2012 by nicole

Hi Guys!  Hope spring is treating everyone well.  I wanted to share this great giveaway by Bella Figura!

If you loved our Pinterest contest last month, wait til you see what we’ve got in store for March! We want to see what good means to you: is it volunteering at an animal shelter? Planting trees? Donating to your local food pantry? Building homes for the less fortunate? Whatever it is, we want you to tell us about it and show us how you’re making a difference — and we’ll give you 25 free invitation sets* just for doing your good deed! It gets better: for the grand prize, we’ll give an entire set of free invitations to the person who submits the ultimate good deed. No purchase is necessary to participate, and the contest is open to everybody worldwide!

*25 free invitation sets when you order 50 or more.

dallas calligrapher charity

Deadline: Your good deed must be done during the month of March 2012. Good deed submissions should be made by March 31 at midnight.

Prizes: Everyone who follows the above guidelines and enters their good deed will receive a coupon and a unique code for 25 free invitation sets with the purchase of 50 or more. This promotional offer is valid through July 31, 2012. “Invitation sets” includes the invitation, reply card + envelope or reply postcard, invitation envelopes, and any coordinating embellishments (this includes envelope liners, edge painting, etc.). The grand prize consists of 100 1-ply, 1-color invitations, reply cards, and envelopes, and must be redeemed by October 31, 2012. The grand prize winner will be announced on April 16, 2012.

Criteria: You determine the definition of “do good.” For the free 25 invitation sets, anything you consider good will work. For the grand prize, we’re looking for actions that bring us hope; that demonstrate the power of an individual to do good; and that show us how the world can be a caring and beautiful place. In either case, please be sure to get a photo or video of yourself in action.

Judging: The team at Bella Figura will choose the top 5 do-gooders and will post them to a finalists board on Pinterest by Wednesday, April 4. Everyone is encouraged to read about the five finalists on the Bella Figura blog from April 4 through April 11, and should “like” their favorite on Pinterest in order to cast a vote. The do-gooder with the most likes on Thursday, April 12 will win the set of 100 free invitations. You must have a Pinterest account in order to “like” one of the finalists, so if you need an invitation, email dogood@bellafigura.com and we’ll send you an invite right away.

Enjoy being good during March friends! – Nicole

Texas Calligrapher – Emily + Colby Marry in Marfa, Texas…. And Martha Stewart Weddings!

Posted in Wonderous Weddings, calligraphy, inspirational, published, vendor love on February 27th, 2012 by nicole

Wow.  Emily and Colby married in Marfa, Texas last year with gorgeous and happy details.  Emily chose to use a happy color palette of pink, orange, marigold, and cornflower blue to play off the desert hues beyond dirt :-)  Cacti, paper lanterns, loose and “picked” floral and crochet horseshoe favors graced the reception for the dapper looking couple.  A few of my favorite Dallas vendors helped to pull this beautiful wedding together and now it is featured in Martha Stewart Weddings.  No pictures of my work this time (I will work on getting something good to share) – but I did get a mention!texas calligraphy martha stewart

Australian Calligrapher – Cheree + Mitchell Sydney Opera House

Posted in Wonderous Weddings, calligraphy, images, inspirational, vendor love on February 21st, 2012 by nicole

Late last year I had the joy of working with some my stationery idols – Bespoke Press out of Australia.  Yes, I have ordered many letterpress prints for my walls from them and was lucky enough to open communication as a potential calligrapher for their discerning brides and grooms.

They commissioned me to do a little lovely lettering for Cheree and Mitchell that really turned out great.  You can see the gorgeous impression in the photos and the design is such a perfect combination of delicate, traditional and modern.  Congratulations to the couple and thank you to Bespoke for working with me (and providing  these gorgeous photos of the finished artwork!)australian calligraphy
